In an effort to encourage new investigators to pursue careers in STD research, ASTDA offers Developmental Awards. Awards with budgets of up to $55,000 (direct costs) are offered annually, for 1 or 2 years, for research on sexually transmitted infections. Funds can be used for salary, technical support, laboratory supplies, travel, and equipment. Awardees should plan to use data derived from these funds as the basis for seeking independent funding from NIH or other sources.

For questions about the Developmental Awards email ASTDA@astda.org or call 919.861.9399.

Who is eligible to apply?

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
  2. Persons who are making the transition from postdoctoral training to faculty-level appointments at U.S. sites (faculty postion must be effective before commencement of award).
